On December 14th, New York State Governor Cuomo suspended indoor dining for the second time in 2020 following a spike in COVID-19 cases in late November. Only establishments with licenses from the State Liquor Authority or approved outdoor dining venues are permitted to have customers enter to order and pick-up food before the state-enforced curfew of 10 PM.
On December 27th, President Trump signed a $900 billion economic relief package to distribute a one-time $600 stimulus check to households and individuals with an annual income of up to $75,000.
Holiday retail sales, excluding automotive and gasoline, increased 3.0% during the holiday season, which ran this year from October 11 through December 24. Notably, online sales grew a record 49.0% compared to 2019 as consumers began shopping earlier than in past years and spent more money on their homes.
